Hard-water check

Florida water is hard on homes.

Much of Florida's water comes from the Floridan aquifer, a huge layer of limestone underground. As water moves through it, it picks up calcium and magnesium. Those minerals are what leave white crust on fixtures, spots on glasses and scale inside your water heater.

Hardness is measured in grains per gallon. We'll explain your numbers in plain English, then recommend only what your home actually needs.

Water hardness scale (gpg)
0–1Soft
1–3.5Slightly hard
3.5–7Moderately hard
7–10.5Hard
10.5+Very hard
Industry hardness classes. 1 grain per gallon equals 17.1 mg/L.

How do I know if I need a water softener?
If you see scale on faucets, spots on dishes, dry skin after showers or buildup around fixtures, a softener may help. A consultation is the best first step, and the hard-water check above is a quick place to start.
What's the difference between a softener and a filter?
A softener removes the hardness minerals that cause scale and spots. A carbon filter improves taste and odor, like chlorine. Reverse osmosis is a separate system under the kitchen sink that makes very clean drinking water.
Do all homes need filtration and reverse osmosis?
No. Some homes only need softening, while others benefit from added filtration or a reverse osmosis drinking-water system. The right setup depends on your water and your goals.
I'm on a private well. Can you help?
Yes. Well water can bring extra issues like iron stains or a sulfur smell. We'll talk through your water first, then recommend equipment that fits it.
What upkeep does a system need?
A softener needs salt added to its brine tank from time to time. Filters and reverse osmosis cartridges get changed on a schedule. We'll show you exactly what to do and how often.
Do you only work with homeowners?
No. We also work with small business owners, especially those who want cleaner water and a more polished experience for their customers.
Can I book online?
Yes. Pick a time on our online calendar, fill out the short form below, or just call or text us.
